2/14/2023 0 Comments Wav tag editor online![]() (Also tried to save the WAV as an MP3 and use an MP3 tag editor, no joy there either.) So I used the tag editor in WebMonkey (couldn't find a WAV tag editor just MP3 ones) to change the album title and track number in the internal tags. Renaming it, of course, doesn't change the internal tags. So I thought, just take that other copy of the song, rename it "Track xx Album xx" and put it in the folder that needs it. There are actually 10 tracks on the CD, one is damaged and unreadable, but I have the same song as a track on a "best of" album. (Most of my music is coming from tapes of LPs, using Audacity, but I'm using WMP to merge my smaller CD collection into the same archive drive.) ![]() I ripped 9 tracks from a CD to lossless WAV format, using WMP. "What sort of file are you having problems with? "0 Hz (Microsoft) PCM WAV" ?" Apparently, there's tags and there's tags, and the file header isn't just tags.Īnyone know the man behind the curtain? So to speak? Can Audacity export/edit tags to keep WMP happy? Or is this WMP's own madness for files it has ripped, versus the rest of the world? Nope, WMP refuses to believe that copied track can be part of the other CD, it reads the original album/track information from the WAV file, and if I just try to enter new tags (using WebMonkey for lack of a simpler WAV tag editor) then WMP still won't see the new information. So I copied over the same song from a "best of" CD, thinking that would fix things up. What happened to get me looking into this, was that I was trying to digitize an old CD and store it on my computer, and one track was simply fubar. If I rip a CD into WAV format (using WMP) there is more information in the head of the file, regarding album and track identification. Audacity is working just fine for me (thanks again, guys!) but I finally figured out that Windows Media Player (11) doesn't know how to show things in the library because the WAV files don't have complete metatag information in them.ĭoes anyone know what/how WMP really wants to see in metatages, in WAV files? Apparently this is not the same as the MP3 ID3 files.
